My taste in software leans toward the small and the boring. I'd rather ship a 340M-parameter model that fits on a laptop than a 70B one that needs a data-centre. I'd rather write a clear README than a clever abstraction.
I care about three things, in order: whether the thing works, whether anyone can read the code six months from now, and whether it was worth building at all. The third question is the one I forget most often.
When I'm not at a keyboard I'm usually reading — right now, Donald Norman — or drinking too much filter coffee. I write in the mornings, ship in the afternoons, and read at night. Sundays are for training runs.
